Climb the mountains and
get their good tidings.
Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees.
The winds will blow
their own freshness into you,
and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off
like autumn leaves.

Upcoming Programs

Join the Boulder Naturalist Outings meetup group to join me on free outings around Boulder County! I lead a hike or outing every 2 weeks, each with a different theme.  You must sign up on the meetup to attend, as the trips fill up fast!

Nature walk along the Anne U. White trail

We will meet at the trailhead for the Anne U White trail off of Lee Hill Road and learn about the riparian ecosystem along the way- there will be lots of plants, animals, birds and maybe even some wild berries to sample! This trail 3.2 miles long and is easy- only 490' in elevation gain.

Alpine edibles along the Lost Lake trail

It's early August and the berries are prolific along the trails throughout the Indian Peaks wilderness area. But which of these are edible? There is a veritable feast waiting for you, if you only knew where to look!

Here is your moment! Wild berries are my favorite part of late summer hiking! Wild raspberries, strawberries, currants, gooseberries, rosehips, and watermelon berries (my favorite!) should all be ripe and perfect for the feasting! I can't wait to share them with you!

Birding at Walden Ponds

Bring your binoculars, spotting scopes, and guidebooks to explore one of the best birding destinations in Boulder County! There are more than 20 ponds in the Walden/Sawhill Ponds complex, and it's a perfect place to visit in the morning- the birds are everywhere!

We may see red-winged blackbirds, yellow-headed blackbirds, great blue herons, cormorants, western grebes, night herons, American pelicans, killdeer, and maybe even a great horned owl or a bald eagle! There's an albino red winged blackbird that lives close by too. Maybe he'll make an appearance!
